[Plugin: PhotoContest Plugin] Instructions could be better

    OK so whilst I’m not a complete novice I am no coding expert, and as such I dont know how anyone has got this plugin to work!

    The instructions seem to jump about and really need refining.

    Sorry to be negative here as the plugin looks just great if I could of got the thing to work.

    So whilst I do appreciate the work you put in to developing and supporting etc For me it was just too complicated to get to work & the instructions mean I couldnt follow in a step by step either.

    Hi Frekal,

    I have set up something else in the interim, but really like the idea of your plugin, so I will attempt to set up the plugin again on a dummy site.

    I will send you the link possibly on tuesday 1st feb.

    and see if I can get photo contest plugin to work there

    Any help I can give I will do so gladly.

    Sorry Frank been absolutely swamped for the last week or so, will make some time this weekend. Have a project deadline for tomorrow! so soon as
    that completed will be able to set up as promised.

    Hey Frank – plugin looks awesome.

    Just a an issue or two:

    1. Config settings i get: You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page-error? Click here to fix it! (Clicking does not fix it.

    2. Wanna force the upgrade of the database? Force database upgrade! Also fails.

    3. Upon saving config settings I get: Error saving PhotoContest options. Can’t insert into the database WordPress database error: [] – when i manually run the SQL syntax in phpMyadmin it runs but update no rows.

    I have one competition added.

    Some info: I have PHP Version 5.3.0, WP Version 3.0.5.

    Otherwise: check the readme part on how to contact me directly!!

    1) Please post the link you are using (or by mail)
    2) Looks like your database is already updated (use it only if you have any database trouble AFTER upgrading the plugin
    3) True, mysql returns an error when no records are updated. You can ignore this alert.

    Hey Frank,

    sorry I have been so busy recently, but just wanted to post a positive note that I got the plugin to work on a test site using the same set up as before.

    Few little design issues here and there but they where all at my end. & I’m sure bit of tinkering with styles would have it looking amazing! (Not that your setup doesn’t! just my theme was causing few issues)!

    I will be using now for a future project and will post + feedback then too, in relation to any assistance I can offer like I said I am no coding expert but do love the plugin & think I just needed to slow down a bit before, and work through thoroughly.
