Updating Profile Breaks User Bio + HTML Displaying in Visual Editor (6 posts)

    Every time a user updates their profile, the 'HTML code' version of their bio replaces the public 'visual' (neat looking, no code) version of their bio, which is visible in all of their published posts on our site.

    In order to prevent this from happening, the user must first (somehow know to) copy the HTML code (which is displaying in the visual editor) and paste into the HTML editor.

    This must be done before updating *any* profile information in order to prevent having their public bio replaced by HTML code.

    Granted, the HTML editor does show the HTML code (by design), however it is squeezed into a (much) smaller area. It would be great to have the full width of the editor to work with here.

    Also, the visual editor doesn't seem to be recognizing pressing the 'Enter' key to insert paragraphs. We add additional <p> and </p> tags to counter this (in the HTML editor), but they are often removed when updating the page, thus making the insertion of paragraphs seem unachievable.

    It would be super to hear your thoughts on updating this plugin further for WP v3.3 compatibility!

    Thx!

    Thank you enejb!

    The update does fix the first of (3) issues presented in this ticket.

    The remaining (2) are as follow:

    1) The HTML Editor is 'squeezed' into an area about 1/2 the size of the visual editor's horizontal width. There is an option to resize, but this only works in a vertical direction, not horizontal.

    2) When pressing 'Enter' to begin a new paragraph, this is not represented on-site where each user's bio appears. As a work-around, we must physically enter open/close paragraph tags <p></p> wherever we wish a paragraph to appear. As many of our users are not familiar with HTML, it would be great to see this updated as well.

    Many Thanks!

    Hi Brian & WR

    I updated the plugin again.

    I also added an option to disable the wysiwg edit because you there are other plugins that do the same job and we might not be able to support this plugin in the future.
    install http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/visual-biography-editor/ and add
    define("PEOPLE_LIST_VISUAL_EDITOR", false);

    to your wp-config.php file
