[Plugin: Participants Database] Multiple columns?

Is there a way to create multiple columns in the signup form, so that, for example, text boxes are side by side rather than only arranged in one verticle list?
Eg, the signup form shows something like:
First name_________ Last name__________
rather than:
First name_________
Last name__________
