[Plugin: P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler)] Plugin hangs after scan; forced to close browser window

    WordPress community,

    I installed P3 this morning, activated the plugin, and ran my initial scan. The scan completed, but when I then went to scroll down the page to look at my stats…I couldn’t scroll down: the browser window had frozen/hung.

    I tried clearing caches, disabling my caching plugin (W3 Total Cache), activating/reactivating P3, but nothing worked. Again, the scan completed (I hit the button at the end), but after that, everything froze.

    What’s going on?

    The line charts and bar charts use the mouse scroll events to zoom. If your cursor was over the charts when you scrolled, you may have zoomed the chart instead of scrolling the page.

    Thanks for your response.

    I should have been clearer: As soon as I hit the “complete” button, the window was rendered completely useless (i.e. not even possible to scroll), as if it had entered an infinite loop. I was prompted by the browser to kill the page since it was unresponsive, but I selected to wait (to no avail).

    After scanning the plugins, the program hits an infinite “thinking” loop…and the loop just continues on and on.

    Does this crash multiple browsers, or just one? And which one?

    Kurt,

    I’ve been using the latest version of Google Chrome (18.0.1025.168). That’s the browser that hung (and continues to hang) with P3.

    I just tried things in IE 9 (9.0.8112.16421) though, and everything worked fine.

    Perhaps the plugin has a problem with the latest version of Chrome?

    Good on you for your suggestion to use a different browser. Not sure why I never tried that myself…brain fart I guess. 🙂
