procedure for backing up from incremental mySQL files (2 posts)

Apologies in advance if this has been posted somewhere - if so, I'd appreciate a point in the right direction.

I'd like to attempt testing the plug-in by trying to restore my site, to a different website, with the backup files that the plug-in has been creating. It has been creating incremental mySQL files every week based on changes.

What is the procedure to test this? I don't see it on the main site. Also what is the version of mySQL that I should be using?

    Thanks for any help/guidance here.

    Hi takeover,

There is a quick overview here:

The backup simply includes your database and files so you just need to upload the files, and use something like phpMyAdmin (provided by nearly all web hosts in the control panel) to recreate the database, and then import the database backup into it.

You should keep the MySQL version the same between the backed up site (source) and the restore site (target). Although as long the version on the target is supported by the WordPress version you are using, I can't foresee any issues.
