Hours Wasted - Backup Never Completed (2 posts)

    After installation, I set this plugin up to do a manual backup and send it as an attachment to my email before going to bed. The next morning it still said 0%. So I tried a manual backup downloaded to my computer and it did the same thing. So I thought, maybe I need to register; after registering and adjusting my settings for an online backup, it got to 78% then stopped. I left it alone for 15-20 minutes and it never got any farther. A few other times Online-backup remained at 0% completion and once got to 83% before quitting. I deactivated this and am now moving on, wishing I hadn't given my email and wasted time registering.

    Hi cakeblast,

    It could be that javascript was not properly enabled in your browser which left it stuck on 0%. Another reason may be that the server your website is on was not responding as quickly as expected and it was causing the backup requests to timeout.

    Could you try a scheduled backup and let us know if that works OK? Scheduled backups don't rely on Javascript and run in the background so would rule out any issue with your browser or internet connection.

    In general the plugin sets some very conservative limits to ensure that even on a slow server with a low PHP script timeout the backup succeeds (it will split down the processing into multiple script runs,) it could just be that we need to adjust these limits for your server.
