I have an encrypted backup file that is 453Mb in size. I don’t think my host will increase my upload limit to that much. Besides, the server is currently experiencing a DoS attack, so very slow.

Do you have somewhere I could upload the file for decrypting? Alternatively, is there something I can download in order to decrypt it on my desktop?

    Thank you,
    Paul

    Hi adopted3,

Unfortunately we don’t yet have a tool available. The need for one has been non-existent for the most of the time.

If you make it available via FTP and send an email to support “at” backup-technology.co.uk with the location/username/password etc to download it they will be able to decrypt it for you.

    Jason,
    Thanks for your reply!
We’re in good shape now, so we won’t need to restore that backup, but thanks for mentioning that.
Our backup is mostly so large because Online Backup plugin doesn’t (yet) allow us to exclude certain directories. But otherwise, the plugin is working great for us.

    Hi adopted3,

We’ve put in the roadmap to adjust the decrypt a backup page slightly, so that you can upload your backup via FTP to your site (which should accept the file size) and put it in a specific folder in the plugin tree.

The Decrypt A Backup page will then detect the file is there and let you decrypt it then download it.

    Saves the upload.

Won’t be next version though – possibly the one after. I think we may have the folder exclusion option in before this one.

    Hi adopted3,

The new version, 2.2.0, now can decrypt files uploaded by FTP.
You just upload them to wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup/tmp/decrypt folder and the file will appear on the Decrypt a Backup page where you can select it, enter encryption details and then decrypt it.
