   After activating NextGEN Imageflow plug-in trying to use the Updates page (/wp-admin/update-core.php) gets an error page saying, "You are not allowed to call this page directly."

   Deactivating the plug-in removes the error and allows access to the Updates page.

   Work around is to turn the NextGEN Imageflow plug-in off; uses update features; turn plug-in back on.
