[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Unbelievably slow load between images?

I love this plugin. Always have. I’m using most recent version and my images are no larger than700x500. The pages and image gallery loads fine and pretty fast. But when clicking on the thumbnail, it sometimes takes a long time to display the larger picture. Then, clicking on next or previous sometimes takes a while too.

I don’t remember having this issue before.

I’ve tried different effects but didn’t notice a huge difference. Anyone else have this issue or any suggestions?
