    It may work to uncheck ‘Set fix dimension’ in Admin->Gallery->Options->Thumbnails. Take note of the need to recreate the thumbnails in all your galleries if you change the settings.

    Personally, I try to size all my photos to 800x600px, and set the thumbnails to 100x75px so the aspect ratio is the same.

    Hi vtxyzzy,

    I tried unchecking the ‘Set fix dimension’ and that helped. It did create issues with other plug ins that I use with NextGen. The other plug in uses square thumbnails and squashes anything not square.

    I’ve decided to use your method and retake my photos and make them square (small items to begin with).
