   This is difficult to work so I am adding a link as well. Is there a way to replicate this effect with the thumbs:

   I want the thumbs to have a set size square border around them, but have the thumbnail resize inside of it. Basically so portrait and landscape thumbnails can show the whole image without being cropped.
