  • Hi guys n gals.

    Posts are fine however…

Albums displayed using [album id=1 template=extend] and I start getting some crazy urls that pretty much mean nothing.

    domain.com/designer-gallery/ (albums show here)

then when i click a gallery listed in the album i get this

    domain.com/nggallery/page-479/album-1/gallery-1/

    yummmy

can this be resolved or is this simply how Nextgen was developed…

Also, I noticed when doing this it does not show the Title of the galleries.

I second this question. Those URLs are pretty annoying. Is there an option that i didn’t see or do i have to rewrite the urls manually to fit into my scheme with htaccess?

You can try to rework it in the file lib/rewrite.php, you need a solid knowledge about the wp rewrite class and I’m very happy if some help for a better solution…

Any satisfaction with the SEO tags and URL issue? http://www.whatsthebigidea.com/nggallery/page-38/page/79 is not very pretty for search engines or users. Any direction would be appreciated. BTW, great plugin even minus the rewrite and seo tags.

Yeah… it would be very nice if someone with good knowledge could change the rewrite rules to something more friendly

    +1 for this

Just don’t use the feature. I really don’t see the point in it. All your albums and galleries are wordpress pages or incorporated into posts, so just use the default settings. Maybe i’m missing something here as well and there is a need to have special urls for your photo stuff?

The pretty URLs SEO situation is the thing I’d most like to see improved in NextGEN. It’s frustrating that I can’t figure out how to make them look nicer by myself, as other than this I love the plugin. Please could you consider implementing this upgrade Alex?

I’m going to look at writing this – don’t know how successful I will be yet, but I haven’t seen another gallery as good as this one and don’t want to ditch the nice admin for my clients just to get SEO.

Don’t hold your breath or stop your own developments, but I’ll report back here if I get anything done.

Quick question to Alex/anyone – why when I turn on the friendly URL option in NGG and then navigate through a gallery do I get the same URL showing in my browser bar for every image?

Wish me luck. If it works and people like it I’ll either hand over the code to Alex or put in a little time making it into a proper plugin to enhance NGG.
