I have WordPress 2.7 and NextGen Gallery 1.01
I'm not able to add tags to my images. Under the 'tags' section, I see all the tags I have from before the update and the number of photos that contain a particular tag but I have two issues:
When I click on the tag, it takes me to the blog and shows me posts that have that tag. I was expecting that it would show me a list of photos containing that tag.
The other issue is that under the 'Manage Gallery' option, I'm not able to add tags to photos and the tags that I had added before, do not show up. I'm able to write into the tag field but when I click on the 'Save Changes' the tag fields reverts to being blank. Both the title and description are fine.

I need to have a look for this, please add tags currently via manage galleries -> select a gallery -> show tags

Thank you very much for getting back to me on this and THANK you for this plugin. It adds a lot of more functionality to my blog!FYI, the steps that you suggest for adding tags, is exactly what I'm doing but I have no luck.
I type the tag, click on the 'save changes' button and on the top of the page it says 'Update successful' but the tag field is blank. -
That's strange, for me it works... The new way is only that the tags will be added to the wordpress core tags system. Try to add a tag via WordPress (Pages-tags) and add then the tag afterwards to the image

Perhaps I'm having issues due to other plugins. At the beginning the list of galleries were not clickable. After I deactivated all plugins, I got the expected results.
So, I was able to add a new tag via the Posts --> Tags as you suggested. But when I go an specific image and try to add the same tag, it does not work.
Since we are talking about tags, would it be possible that in the future the tags field would work the same way it works in posts. The tags pop-up as you start typing a tag name. -

Activated the NextGen Plugin and still no luck. It seems that it's not making the correct reference to the Tags table... -

Another tidbit to add to this. I'm not able to create new galleries. It goes through the process of creating one but like the tags, it just goes into oblivion... -
I think something went wrong in the database... Try to setup a testblog with a fresh installation, so you can first check if something on your server didn't work

I just created a new blog using a different domain that I have hosted at the same hosting services (Yahoo Small Business)Note that since this was a brand new blog, I did not have to update the plugin. I installed the latest one available (1.0.1).
With this fresh install, I'm able to create new galleries but tags continue to be having problems.This points to my webhosting services so I will contact them. Is there anything in particular I should ask?

If you setup a testblog and gain me access I will have a look where the problems lies...

I have somewhat similar problem. WP-2.8.4 NextGEN 1.3.5.
In manage gallery if I add tags to the pictures and save, the tags disappear after save. However I see that the photos are tagged. I test this by creating page with:
Gallery Tags=kids example
[ nggtags gallery=kids ]
Album Tags = kids, friends, places example
[ nggtags album=kids,friends,places ]
Pictures come. The only problem is the tags do not show in Manage Gallery. The tags also show when I go to "Manage Image tags" page. On that page when I click on the numbers in bracket I get 404 page not found. For test purpose I added one of the tags in "WP tags". No change in behavior in Manage Gallery. But in Manage Image tags page when I click on the number in brackets in front of the tag that I added in WP tags also, now I get "no post matching tag" instead of 404 page not found.
