   Is it possible to move pictures from one gallery to a new one, only some of them, without deleting and re-uploading - I just want images to retain same ID so that I don't have to update posts when I move some photos.

   if not through NExtGen, maybe through mysql? any help appreciated.

   No this is not possible, you must move them via FTP and also change the gallery id for those images in the database. It's better to reupload them
