    Hi,
    I am using NextGen Version 1.9.1 in my site http://www.badgeorders.co.nz/go.
    One of the pages - http://www.badgeorders.co.nz/go/medical?show=gallery is behaving oddly. The Description shows below the thumbnail as well as when the images pops up. No sign of the Alt Text.
    I need to have the Alt Text displayed below the thumbnail and the Description showing when the image pops up.
    How do I achieve this, please?
    Thanks for your time,
    Data

    I'm on 1.8.3 and at that version Nextgen is coded to use the Description field (i.e. a long field) as the 'caption' which I would have thought should really be the Alt & Title Text field (i.e. a short field).

    If your using the shortcode [nggallery id=nnn template=caption] then it would appear its still doing this.

    Yes, I am using the shortcode [nggallery id=nn template=caption]. It is displaying the (longer) description field.
    Thanks,

    One solution is to hack the plugin which means that when you update the plugin, you will lose the changes you made.

    I just realized that the solution in the above link won't work. Here's a quick solution that worked for me (though it still required editing a nextgen plugin file):

    Open this file: nextgen-gallery/view/gallery-caption.php
    (You can access it through the plugin editor)

    Search for: php echo $image->caption
    Change it to: php echo $image->alttext

    Save the file and you're done.
