[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Modifying the Imagebrowser template

Would there be an easy way to get NextGen Gallery to display photo galleries like this:

The ImageBrowser template is the closest thing to it, but it is missing the functionality that dislpays a row of thumbnails with next and previous links.

Is this template pluggable in a way that I wouldn’t have to modify the core code of the NG Gallery plugin?
