[resolved] [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Is google indexing your image pages? (6 posts)

My NextGEN single image pages have URL's like http://japanese-art.blog107.com/nggallery/page-23/image/30/ and to date google has not indexed any of these pages.

ALthough the URL is not SEO friendly I still would have thought googgle would have crawled and indexed them.

Have any NextGEN users gotten URL's of the above format indexed in google?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike.

Google has finally found a few of my image pages. I guess I just need to be more patient.

Working for one of the next versions on Google Image sitemaps which maybe as well helps indexing

Thanks Alex. I'll give the image sitemap plugin a try. I'm also thinking of adding some of my nggallery pages manually to my regular sitemap to see if that will encourage google to go deeper into my site. My pages like http://japaneseartsgallery.com/nggallery/page-23/image/30/ (replacement domain name) have content on that I'd like google to find so my site appears higher in the search results.

Hi Alex, the image sitemap plugin I tried didn't find any NextGEN pages. It only found regular WP pages with images on them. I've manually built an image sitemap with most of my http://japaneseartsgallery.com/nggallery/page-23/image/30/ format pages and submitted it so it will be interesting to see what result (if any) this has over the next few weeks. Regards, Mike.

Update. I submitted a hand made image sitemap to google around the end of December and as of 31/01/2011 google has indexed a large number of the images on the site.

I've just helped a friend with their new (10 day old) site at http://firstclassvitamins.com.au and 2 days after I submitted an image sitemap google has indexed its first image.

Both times I had to build the sitemap by hand but it does seem to be worth the effort as the image indexing has occurred much faster than for previous sites I've been involved with.
