I recently updated to the most recent version of wordpress, and all of a sudden, nextgen gallery doesn't work. I have tried reinstalling everything from the ground up and still can't get the images to show.
As the page loads, the the images appear for a split second and then they change to a gray box with scrolling darker gray lines...? You can check it out at: http://harrisburgband.org/?page_id=9
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Having exactly the same problem even after asking my hosts to upgrade to PHP5. Likewise any help/advice much appreciated ...

I don't know if this would be of any help, but the gallery works fine as long as the page script is disabled using NoScript...

I had something like that and ended up uninstalling event calendar and everything was ok again. (It was on a new website, the pictures broke after installing that calendar plugin and looked exactly the same as on your website.)

I deactivated the events calendar and now the nextgen gallery works fine. Now I just have to transfer my events to the other calendar!
