[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Display thumbnails in the NextGen gallery BELOW the Image Browser

I am surprised this functionality doesn’t already exist, and maybe there is a creative solution. What I want to do is display the ImageBrowser (single pictures) but instead of the numbers or “next” buttons, I’d like to show the thumbnails in the gallery. When you click on that thumbnail, then the image displays in the image browser (rather than in the effect).
