I am trying to make edits to the descriptions of each of my images within my Next-Gen gallery. When I make the edits and then click on 'Save Changes' it then reads 'Update Successful'. Problem is that the changes to the descriptions are reverted back to the original descriptions. They actually are NOT saving after all. Any ideas? I've tried changing the permissions so that they are set to 777 but it didn't do anything.
Thanks for any help!

I have exactly the same problem like rosebean.
I have to mention that I have updated my blog from wordpress 2.7 to wordrpess 2.7.1 yesterday. I cannot say if the problem already existed right before the update or if it started right after I finished the update. Anyway it could be a consideration that it is caused by the new version of wordpress.
Thanks for any help!

Another consideration: I have deactivated the plugin during upgrading WP from 2.7 to 2.7.1. Hopefully this helps...

Some more information: I can change the description directly in the wordpress database. This works, the text is showed correctly then. But I'm still not able to edit the text using the the manage-images form.
Something else: I'm just not able to change the image settings (seems to affect every image setting) but I'm able to edit for example the gallery settings.

Once again a bit more information: It seems that the values 'description', 'alttext' and 'exclude' are not saved properly. E.g. if the sort order is changed it is stored correctly.
In my opinion the problem is not located at the database. I gonna check the process flow of the "Save changes" buttons next...

Haven't analyzed the problem yet but found a first workaround that solves it:
I use WP 2.7.1 which causes the problem. More accurately the problem is caused by wp-includes/formatting.php (or maybe how nextGen is using the contained functions). If I use wp-includes/formatting.php from WP 2.7 the bug is gone and everything seems to work fine.

Sometimes it's very easy and you don't see the obvious solutions...
Just update nextGen-Gallery to its newest version and with a little bit of luck your problem is gone... In my case that worked well and is for sure much cleaner than the solution I proposed in the last post.
But thanks for the help I experienced in this thread, was a very interactive way of solving problems...

@ AirNatuk
Thank you! I have the same problems with saving the description of images.
But your solutions don't work. I deleted the plugin (and tables) reinstalled ... still the same.
Im running on WP 2.7.1 and ngg 1.2.1
Does anyone of you knows a solution?
Thx!!

I am having the same problem. Using WPMU 2.7.1 and NGG 1.0.2
I can upload images and work with galleries/albums... but I can not add descriptions or modify the Alt text... no matter what I add, the data is not stored in the database.
Alex... any ideas?

I suggest it's worth to try the newest version of nextGen Gallery (currently 1.3.5), this might solve your problem. I'm using 1.2.1 currently and I haven't encountered any further problems.
Hope that helps...
