  • Hi,

Firstly let me say really like this plugin, was exactly what I was looking for to record details of my new found interest in reading (after buying a kindle in January 2011 at least!). I had a slight issue using/modifying the template files and have a couple of suggestions for the author.

Re the template, I’m using the Twenty Ten (v1.3) theme on my blog and thought from reading the plugin options page that I would have to amend the files in templates/custom_templates/twentyten folder. Changing these files didn’t seem to have any effect and had to change the files in the default_templates directory instead. Maybe I’m just missing something in the instructions or maybe it’s a bug? The reasons I needed to change the template at all by the way was firstly the library and single detail pages don’t appear to be formatted correctly, the sidebar appears under the main content. Also the sidebar and footer are missing completely from the library page and I had to comment out some lines about ‘weaver_put_…’ to make them appear and I had to remove the final </div><!-- #container -->. Finally as the data I am retrieving is for Kindle books there are no number of pages and thus wanted to remove the ‘Planned’ text from the sidebar and single detail content as was really relevant (see suggestions below).

    My suggestions are as follows.

    1. Asking for my AWS key details was scary! I worked out after a quick nose in the code why the plugin needs these but I can imagine asking for those details would put a lot of users off using your plugin, which is a real shame. Maybe there is another way round this?
    2. Similar to the AWS point above, I’m guessing you don’t actually have to use this lookup feature — all be it very useful — so maybe either an option to not use the AWS key and just manually enter the book details (thus suppressing the error saying you need to enter your key).
    3. As I’m using Kindle books mainly (at the moment at least) the pages counting feature to show ‘planned’ isn’t really relevant and I’ve got to be honest I don’t think I’d update that anyway as I was reading a book. An option, like the others, to hide this would be good.
    4. Again as I’m using Kindle books, the ISBN number isn’t that relevant but I do have the ASIN so would be great if I could search by that instead.

Let me know if you need anything clarifying. Oh and this is my first post on WordPress.org (only signed up to provide this feedback really) so apologies if I’ve inadvertently broken any forum rules!
