Page order change not reflecting on site (9 posts)

    Hi

I went through other threads and also tried tweaking around the code a bit to get the page order change to reflect on the site as well, and not just the dashboard. Nothing worked, which is why I am now starting a new thread.

The page order plugin changed the order of pages as shown in the dashboard, but the site still lists the pages alphabetically. The site in question is http://www.cure-for.info

The theme is Fastway 1.0 by Antbag.

Here are the contents of the file leftbar.php

[Code moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]

I should repeat, some of these are not the original codes. I made some changes after reading the other threads. The changes are restricted to page order related lines.

Please let me know what I need to change in order to get the change in page order to reflect on the website as well.

    Thanks
    Sarika

    Sarika,

Double check that widgets aren't being used instead. When widgets are enabled it will skip over the code in the sidebar.

My Page Order was working before. Now, it changes the page order in the administrative section but not on the actual site. I've read the other threads and nothing seems to work. My blog is tiwia.org.

Did you upgrade to the new Twenty Ten theme recently? The navigation bar is uses the new Menu feature and will fall back to a wp_page_menu call if the menu hasn't been defined.

    Hi Andrew

I checked. The sidebars do use widgets. In the list of available widgets now I also see a "My Page Order" widget. Should I try activating that? It wasnt available earlier. It appeared after the last update I think.

Or will I need to use a theme without widgets? Or is there a way to not use widgets?

    Thanks and regards,
    Sarika

PS: The codes have been edited out. Should I paste them again using the correct method indicated?

    Hi again

I tried the My Page Order widget. It worked perfectly. The order is right on the site too now.

    Thanks a ton!

    Sarika,

Glad you got it going. If anyone else finds this thread, you can use the built in Page widget but you have to set the order to "Menu Order".

Help please I'm new to WordPress and finding it challenging. I can't get the order of my sub pages to sort with the My Page Order Plugin. They appear sorted while still in the Plugin, but when I look at the live site they are sorted alpha descending, which is NOT what I want. How do I get My Sort Order to work? I'm using Weaver Theme. Site address is http://the-broadway-gallery.com/dev. I'm trying to sort the artist pages alpha by last name. Thank you.

    marie,

If you are using widgets then you just have to modify the Page widget to sort by Menu Order. If not you have to modify your theme to include "sort_column=menu_order" in the wp_list_pages call.
