   When listing out the terms of a taxonomy, I noticed that it lists everything, including child categories/taxonomies. Is it possible to incorporate the "parent" argument, so that you can set it to "0" and only display the top level terms?

   Yes, i need the same thing. I need to display the second-level or depth 2 of my categories and subcategories. Is there a possibility?

   May we need to use this functionality?

   if($cat->parent >= 2 ){
