   Hi,
   Is it possible to integrate an additional script to add a jquery magnify effect on hovering over the large image?
   If so, do you have a suggestion about how to apply it to the active image when using thumbnails in Meteor Slides?

   You could link the slides to larger versions of the slide images and use a plugin like Lightbox Plus to open those image links in a lightbox.
