[Plugin: Members] Extensions to control content access?

I’m impressed with the Members plugin and its clean interface for updating roles. I’m okay with the “add code” solution to add capabilities.

The Readme.htm says

The Content Permissions feature will be the heart and soul of this plugin in the future. Right now, it only adds an additional meta box on the post editing screen.

What I need is the ability to restrict access to posts in a couple of categories to those who are logged in. I’d prefer if my users do not have to also set explicit access after setting one of those categories. It’d seem that it would be possible to use a hook to set the appropriate user access characteristics when publishing a post in one of those categories — but I’m not familiar enough with how to do that.

If someone has posted code in the forum, I’d be glad to pay to get access to that — but, as a visitor, I don’t see that there’s much discussion of the plugin over there, so I’m wondering if someone has advice here.
