[Plugin: MediaElement.js - HTML5 Video & Audio Player] You are my hero. (3 posts)

I have been banging my head, trying to get ANY setup of HTML5 (with flash fallback) to work, to no avail. it was always one thing ro another that didn't meet the requirements I had.

Even this plugin didn't - not 100% - but it was DEAD EASY to make the necessary changes, and about 5 minutes after I installed (and made my changes) it was finally working. I wanted to cry. I've been trying for 4 weeks to get this HTML5 video to work, and this is the only thing that actually worked. I tried JWPlayer, Kaltura, making my own flash player, swiping the Jing player - but this. Actually. Worked.

For the record, my changes were specific *to my theme.* This plugin worked stright out of the box - which encouraged me to go ahead with the changes I needed. Really, the only change I needed was to add a bit of javascript to the JQuery element (I have the video opening in a modal window, and needed to script my "close" link to turn off the videos when you wanted to stop watching).

Excellent plugin. You are my hero.

Hi - do you have an example of a site where you've used MediaElement.js? I'm looking for an audio streaming solution and would like a better understanding of how this plugin works.

    Thanks

The site I used it on isn't live yet, so I can't show it to you. But when I used it, all I did was upload and activate the plugin. I used the documentation at http://mediaelementjs.com to make my changes. I basically did everything I needed in my functions.php file, and then created a shortcode to pull in the dynamic stuff into the function.
