IS there a way to control the order in which documents get listed? I need to be able to sort by document date (reverse chronologically)

I will be releasing a new version today that will allow this. I will write back shortly.

You can now use orderby and order in the mediacat shortcode. Acceptable values for orderby are post_title or post_date; acceptable values for order are ASC, DESC, and menu_order:

    [mediacat cats="myCat" orderby="post_date" order="DESC"]

    Hi,
I am using the following shortcode on a page to display the contents of a category.
    [mediacat cats="Test-category" orderby="post_title" order="ASC"]
My issue is the documents are not ordered by post title, rather they are actually ordered by post date/time.
Have I missed something in the shortcode? Or is there something else I should be doing?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Your shortcode looks good to me. The only thing that looks strange is the dash in your category name (but I assume that you named the category that way). I basically set up a very similar situation as you, and it worked fine for me.

Any chance of getting a link to see the display of the shortcode?

    Thanks,

    Tim

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for your prompt response.
Here is a link to a screen dump showing the shortcode and the end result.

Let me know if you have any trouble with the URL

    Thanks again,
    Will

Do you definitely have version 0.5 installed? Would you mind deleting the Media Category Library plugin and re-installing? All your settings will be retained, so you won't lose any data.

    Hi Tim,
Yes I can confirm I am using version 0.5 of Media Category Library
I have also re installed it and restarted web server.

The plugin came from this URL
    Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/media-category-library.0.5.zip

I found the issue and will release 0.6 later tonight. Thanks for your help! I will try to address some of the other items you reported as well.

    Hi Tim,
Thanks for your efforts, I have tried ver 0.6 but it unfortunately hasn't helped the ordering. I even tried creating a new category and re uploading the media. My media is still ordering by date/time

Hi all, for what it is worth, I just upgraded to .6, and the sort-by and sort-order worked as described for me. Thanks!

The ability to select what columns to display (as will-123 has requested) would be helpful as would putting some classes on the HTML elements (to allow for CSS to be applied).

    Thanks Tim!

Thanks to you both. I just released 0.7 and finally fixed the ordering issue for Will. I also added CSS classes to the shortcode output so that columns can be hidden via CSS. Also, you can override the templates/views by placing a copy in your own theme directory.
