One question, is there anyway to inform the user upon registration that their account will be created using their email address for the username. Better yet, can the registration page be altered so that the username field isn’t shown at all?

I’m already working on it… plus, for big sized website, I’m thinking about creating an option page so you can warn users about the change of login / register behavior with a custom message on login screen and / or sending a custom email to all users. Great features to come… let’s keep in touch. But for now you can install and activate “WP Email Login” plugin 😉
