[Plugin: Live Countdown Timer] Very resource intensive (6 posts)

When I tried this plugin, after just a few minutes, my computer was using 100% CPU of which about 90% was Firefox, with only the page with the plugin on, open. The RAM was also very high. The computer I used is a Pentium 4 (3GHz) with HT tegnology (a comonly used machine). I just want to bring this under your attention that in some cases this might become a problem. It is a very good plugin, but the resources of the visitors might be a little bit low (Taking that I have visitors using Windows 2000 with IE 5).

@Jacotheron : hmm... that's really strange because my CPU says 0% on firefox when i load the page...
You should really try more than 1 computer before saying the plugin is bad!

You must have a firefox plugin or another webpage open that does the 100% cpu usage, or who knows what else!

Thank you for the post but this problem does not exist.

    ciprian_vb, you didn't read Jacotheron's post properly.

He said the plugin is very good.

He explained the problem clearly, politely and helpfully.

If, say, 1 in 100 of people reading a blog of mine using firefox had the problem as described, that would be enough to put me off using it.

Saying it works OK on *your* setup means nothing. It has to work efficiently on all setups (or degrade gracefully).

I thought I might use this plugin but you have successfully dissuaded me from trying it out on my blogs.

I tend to agree with nickathome, I was going to give it a try but you attitude dissuaded me too.

Hm, im using the plugin, it works fine, if mr Jacotheron downloads porno while surfing with his IE 5, right 5. So it IS NOT A PLUGINS FAULT.
Get a proper browser, in fact I don't think that IE should be called browser, especialy the 5version

I've been using this excellent plugin with no problems at all. Tested in IE 7&8, Firefox 3.5, Chrome 2something and Opera 10.
