I went to all the trouble of going back and forth with the plugin trying to understand just what this plugin does and how it works - BUT - after downloading it and installing the plugin it requires a registration key that cost $499.00!! - You really need to be up front about this SOMEWHERE here at WordPress - AND - On your own website BEFORE people waste their time with such nonsense!

If you have a commercial product then tell people up front! ...what a waste of time this was...also over 80% of your links on your site don't even work and there isn't even a demo link anywhere to see what this thing looks like. Before I would shell out 500 bucks I would at least want to see a demo somewhere.

ListingPress creates a WordPress-esque query system for a registered real estate agent in the United States to automatically embed listings in to their WordPress blog.

The plugin is free and open source (released GPL) but unfortunately the listing data is not. For more information on this, please visit ListingPress.com.

There is nothing at listingpress, nothing, none of the links work.

Docs, contact, and registration, seem to work, but the rest of the front page links look a little unfinished, don't they?

"This is a brand new product and we are still constantly updating this site. Please continually check back for more updates and further documentation.

Here are some helpful links for interacting with ListingPress:"

The author's home page looks a little stark too. Maybe they are in a transition phase.

Well and there is another confusing thing too that stands out, they dont really have a disclaimer for those listings. Only MLS members can display listings in most markets. I think someone might assume they can put listings on their site and not be a board member.

I think ListingPress assumes that most people who want to do this are Real Estate agents who are aware of the use of data restrictions. Other "IDX/MLS Listing/Real Estate website companies" who do this only provide a one size fits all solution and would never, ever let you see their code or customize it. The plugin was released Open Source to encourage innovation, which frankly, I think was against ListingPress's own self-interest.

The company is still working on various features, but the plugin is working well enough that I have customized it and created designs for real estate agents in several markets.

http://www.TheLocalExpert.com has a bit more on what we are doing. You can also contact me directly through this site or http://www.SamIngersoll.com

If you are an agent, I'd be happy to help you integrate listings into your WordPress blog. If you are not an agent, there is a unique way that you can partner with an agent to get the same effect, and share costs using WordPress MU.

If you want to let people search for listings, foreclosures, etc... I'd recommend http://www.RealBird.com Their data is from Google Base and doesn't have all the listings, but enough that you can use their system to make your site more sticky and capture leads.

Of course, if you are devious, there are other ways to get any data you want from anywhere into a website. I mention that because MLS Boards attempts to control data can be easily circumvented. Had they provided their agents with better tools, there would be no need for 3rd party guys like me.
