i am using it inside a page and it is working well for me with my version of wordpress i.e 2.7.x now i would like to use this inside a template file. How can i use it?

Hi
That plugin contains a widget. activate the widget if necessary and you should be able to add it to a sidebar.
If you don't want it in a sidebar, take a look at this plugin

Its more involved to use but can be used anywhere in a template -
