[resolved] Sub-Folders (22 posts)

I started uploading my albums as top level albums but I realize I have a lot and it would have been better to have them divided by year. I have created a 2011 folder but it looks like I can't add folders I've already made as sub-folders. There are way too many pictures to move. Is there any way to move them in batches or to add the folder to another folder after the fact?

    Thank you!

Just move the folders by ftp. If you copy the captions.xml files along, you won't lose your edits.

Maybe I can figure out how to do that. I've uploaded some files from my computer by FTP, but I haven't figured out how to move around files that are already there.

    Thank you.

What sorting do you have now?

Manual, but it doesn't look like I can sort the sub-folders manually.

Sub folders display below the images table.
Try dragging folders by grabbing the left side of the table row.
You can also sort by clicking the table headers.

The drag and drop seems to only work for folders, not sub-folders. Sorting by headings doesn't give me what I want either. I would like them sorted by date they were taken, not when they were uploaded. So the drag and drop is what I need. Maybe that is a possibility for the future?

Try dragging folders by grabbing the left side of the table row.

Can you send a screenshot how and where dragging works? I can't find it anywhere in a Lazyest Gallery...

You can see a screenshot here.

On the left if you click where the grey section is, you can drag and drop the folders.

I believe I have found the answer in the documentation that sorting of sub-folders is not available yet.

So for just folders (without subfolders) it does not work?

It works for all folders whether they have subfolders or not, but the subfolders themselves can't be sorted.

For instance, if I have folders of 2011, 2010, and 2009, I can sort them in any order but if underneath 2011 I have folder a, b, and c, I can't sort a, b, and c, at least not by dragging & dropping.

May be a bug in sub folder sorting.

nope, it is not a bug, but if LG can't write to your folder, manual sorting is disabled

Wait a minute, sub folder sorting is done in the edit-folder screen.
Click on a folder, and sort the sub folders there.

The lazyest-preread plugin will read date the images were taken.

BTW, this will be in core in version 1.1
