within wordpress > lggallery > gallery > i see the image fine and a box for captions, clicking edit shows me the description box.
i enter my caption and description and save, then update folder
upon "updating folder" the caption and description box are empty.
I have set captions.xml as well as the folders before it from everything from 755 to 777 with no luck.
please help in showing me what i am missing.

Multiple post won't solve your problem faster.
I can't help you further. LG should work if your server has been configured properly.

i just need to know what files to set permissions to, ive tried lg-gallery, captions.xml and many others, ive tried multiple file permissions and still no luck. im not trying to post multiple times but the last one was a week ago and i didnt know if it would still be noticed.
Check file ownership. If php and ftp (user) aren't in the same group, sometimes php (LG) cannot access the file. Have you tried erasing the captions.xml files?

thank you macbrink, the problem was with yahoo not allowing permissions to change file permissions although it appeared you could.
