EWWW Image Optimizer
[resolved] Plugin Keeps Deactivating (5 posts)

    Hi
I have been having trouble with the plugin keep deactivating and this error:

    The plugin ewww-image-optimizer/ewww-image-optimizer.php has been
deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

Last time I had the error I removed the plugin using FTP and then reuploaded a new copy about three days ago. Everything was working fine and I updated some other plugins and then the error comes up and EWWW is nowhere to be found. The files are all there in the Plugin directory though but it is not showing in the list of plugins.

Therefore the only way I can get the plugin back is to delete and reupload it (the only way I know how without digging around in the database anyway).

Any ideas what might be causing this behaviour. If I upload again teh plugin will work again until it suddenly decides to go missing again. Help please.
    Thanks

Well, seeing as how there is no code in the plugin that would delete itself, it has to be something on your system deleting it. I've never heard of any such thing, without drive failure or a security config being the culprit. Do you have any sort of monitoring software that keeps an eye out for new files, and deletes them if they are not approved?
Otherwise, I've got no ideas on this one, sorry!

Wooh got exactly the same error.
Except it was my first install...;(
I turned around a little, deactivated W3 Total Cache, activated on the network and it worked!
Looks like i cannot activate it on one blog only...?

you can activate it on one blog only, but W3TC is weird and causes issues because of caching sometimes.

@nosilver4u thanks for your answer. I'll keep this in mind.
