Hi,
I'm testing our videos using Safari for Windows so that I can see if our videos are viewable on an iPad. I disabled plugins in the Safari browser so that I can see if the JW Player works with HTML5. But it doesn't work. The videos are not being displayed.
Please view this page from an iPad or Safari browser (flash disabled) http://www.universityofmakeup.com/portfolio/basic-skincare-you-should-know/
I hope you can help me.
Thanks so much.
Kind regards,
Albert

I'm experiencing the same. Flash embed is working, but no fallback to HTML5 (just a black box) when on iPad or iPhone. I'm not playing video, only mp3 audio.
if I touch the black box, I see a jwplayer logo appear, and occasionally I see a bit of an error message: "network failed or because the format is not supported".
Site where problem is happening:

Hey guys,
The issue here is neither of you are using the JW Embedder (jwplayer.js) to embed the player. This file contains the HTML5 version of the JW Player and also has the logic for picking the appropriate version of the player depending on browser and device.
The JW Embedder is included in the zip file when you download the player.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
Will you please let me know where I should use it? This is the shortcode I use:
[jwplayer config="University of Makeup" plugins="sharing-2" sharing.link="http://www.universityofmakeup.com/portfolio/basic-skincare-you-should-know/" sharing.code="%3Cembed%20src%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fcloudfront.universityofmakeup.com%2Fplayer%2Fplayer.swf%22%20flashvars%3D%22file%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fcloudfront.universityofmakeup.com%2Fpreviews%2FBasic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_%28Preview%29.mp4%26stretching%3Dfill%26image%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fcloudfront.universityofmakeup.com%2Fimages%2FBasic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_720.jpg%22%20width%3D%22720%22%20height%3D%22424%22%2F%3E" file="http://cloudfront.universityofmakeup.com/previews/Basic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_%28Preview%29.mp4" image="http://cloudfront.universityofmakeup.com/images/Basic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_720.jpg"]
Looking forward to hear from you.
Kind regards,
Albert
@albertlagrange,
The shortcode itself is fine and doesn't need to be changed. The JW Embedder is not a configuration option used in the shortcode. It needs to be installed on your site. The simplest way is to go to the Upgrade Page for the JW Player which can be found in the admin section of your site. Simply click on "Install Latest JW Player" and it should install the JW Embedder for you.
Thanks.

Thanks so much. I made the upgrade and now the HTML5 player is working.
There's just one issue. The player doesn't work at all when the sharing-2 plugin is also embedded. In other words, the player (flash or no-flash) is not working with the shortcode as shown above, but it is working when I remove the sharing code like this:
[jwplayer config="University of Makeup" file="http://cloudfront.universityofmakeup.com/previews/Basic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_%28Preview%29.mp4" image="http://cloudfront.universityofmakeup.com/images/Basic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_720.jpg"]
I understand you are very busy but will you please let me know as soon as possible? The current members are now unable to view those videos.
Kind regards,
Albert
@albertlagrange,
Can you provide a link to one of the videos that aren't working correctly? It will help me to debug your issue.
Thanks.

Yes for sure: http://www.universityofmakeup.com/portfolio/basic-skincare-you-should-know/
I've checked to see if sharing-3 makes a difference but it does the same as sharing-2.
It looks like the issue is that you are using single quotes in the sharing.code flashvar. Since it's HTML encoded I went ahead and modified the shortcode for you.
The following should work correctly for you:
[jwplayer config="University of Makeup" plugins="sharing-2" sharing.link="http://www.universityofmakeup.com/portfolio/basic-skincare-you-should-know/" sharing.code="%3Cembed%20src%3D%27http%3A%2F%2Fcloudfront.universityofmakeup.com%2Fplayer%2Fplayer.swf%27%20flashvars%3D%27file%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fcloudfront.universityofmakeup.com%2Fpreviews%2FBasic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_%28Preview%29.mp4%26stretching%3Dfill%26image%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fcloudfront.universityofmakeup.com%2Fimages%2FBasic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_720.jpg%27%20width%3D%27720%27%20height%3D%27424%27%2F%3E" file="http://cloudfront.universityofmakeup.com/previews/Basic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_%28Preview%29.mp4" image="http://cloudfront.universityofmakeup.com/images/Basic_Skincare_a_Makeup_Artist_Should_Know_720.jpg"]
Thanks.

I am using the latest version and I still can't get it to fall back to HTML5 in the case of iPad/iPhone.
Also, FF8/IE9/Chrome all use the flash player
http://gltlive.1parkplace.com/repairs-for-selling-your-home-in-austin/
Using this shortcode
[jwplayer config="goodlife" html5_file="http://s3.amazonaws.com/GoodLife_Web_Videos/BuyerRepairs.mp4" file="http://s3.amazonaws.com/GoodLife_Web_Videos/BuyerRepairs.mp4" width="640" height="360" autoplay="true"]
@1parkplace,
The player will default to the flash player since it is still more feature rich than the html5 player.
It plays back correctly on the iphone for me. What behavior are you seeing?
Thanks.

@RuddyFromPortugal,
Thanks for providing a link. However it seems to be returning a 404 for me. If you update the link I'll be happy to take another look.
Thanks.

Hi,
sorry i was messing with the instalation.
the link is http://www.fogonaweb.com/o-que-fazemos/
There is one strange issue, i assume it's related:
when testing in localhost machine, the plugin finds and plays the beekle skin. Now in the server it's not finding it, i wonder if the moving wordpress script is leaving some files behind ?! all the other plugins are working fine.
Thanks in advance.

i fixed the beekle skin but in the ipad is still crashing.
what i've done
- during the moving of the site the skin configuration changed to ':http' (very strange). So maybe it has something to do with moving wordpress indeed.
- Thus I uninstalled the player completely (in jw swttings) then re-installed the plugin completely. did not work, the custom player i've created persists (even after the uninstall that is supose to delete DB and files.
So i definitly need your help!
Kind Regards,
Rodolfo
I have just downloaded the plugin. Is there a way for me to generate the code to embed video into a page.
Or do i need to buy the license first. I am happy to pay for the licence but i would like to know that i know how to make it work.
Cheers.
I'm wanting to embedd an mp4 video. I did find a code generator on the site bit it did not seem to have an option for mp4.
I guess i'm missing something.
fawkesblog2,
You only need a license if you have a commercial site or you wish to remove the watermark. If you're using our plugin feel free to refer to our documentation on how to set it up: http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/addons/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/11513/getting-started-with-the-wordpress-plugin-for-the-jw-pla
Thanks.

I am experiencing the same issue and I also don't have the embedder installed. I cannot use the automated installation you're suggesting, when I try to, I get an error "Abort class-pclzip.php : Missing zlib extensions", which probably happens because I'm limited to using an older version of wordpress on account of the MySQL version on my server being too old. Is there a way to manually install the embedder?
Thanks
@seeurope,
You can install the embedder using FTP. You can download the player from our site and then upload the jwplayer.js file from the zip to /wp-content/uploads/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/player.
The plugin should detect that it's present and being to work properly.
Thanks.

The js file and the swf file turned out to already be in the /wp-content/uploads/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/player dir. I use the following pseudocode in my wordpress post:
[jwplayer file="http://website.org/uploads/videos/video.flv" html5_file="http://website.org/uploads/videos/video.mp4" image="http://website.org/uploads/videothumbs/thumb.jpg" duration="1265" width="230" height="185"]
Works fine on desktop browsers, black rectangle on iOS devices.
Thanks for the quick answer, but the fallback still doesn't happen.
Thanks :)
