I have been using the JSL3 plugin for a couple of weeks with no problems. Now all of a sudden I get the "[7] couldn't connect to host" error on my webpage and plugin page in wordpress. Has something changed all of a sudden?

I haven't changed the plugin. You are getting a cURL error. Chances are something on your web server has changed. You may want to contact your web server administrator and ask them if they are now blocking access to https://graph.facebook.com on their firewall.
