[resolved] Browser problems: FF fine | Chrome + Safari not (8 posts)

    Hi,

I picked collaps-o-matic which I liked most and its easy to work with.

Now that the project is life I found out that some expand-injections are not displayed on Chrome & Safari.

There are 12 expands, most are similar in the same list. 3, 7, 8,9 do not show up. Two more on the same side are invisible at Chrome + Safari while FF shows them.

I use the simple version within a list: all are same: [expand] [/expand].

So this is a bit confusing and a little testing around did not bring success.

Thanks for support. If more details are requested please let me know. The project is private so I can´t service the url.

    Best

    Hello Baden,

thanks for superfast-response: thats what Chrome tells me:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) http://xyz/wp-content/themes/wp-newsmag/js/dropdown.js
Not allowed to load local resource: file:///HD/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/xyz/wp-content/themes/wp-newsmag/images

I think: it´s clear: a wrong (old) link ... the site is a mirror installation .. not all links made it.

Or do you see another problem?

    Thanks again

Yup, either add the dropdown.js file or remove the link. It's probably the root of your problem right there. You might also check if jQuery is only loading once as some plugins try to log-jam the jQuery library in without first checking to see if it is already loaded.

Another common problem is the use of $() rather than the WordPress safe jQuery() in any jQuery code that is being inserted into your page.

If you get it sussed out... or still need help, let us know.

    thanks Baden,

    good points.

the dropdown.js is correct except the missing: S.
    It´s dropdowns.js actually.

So the file is there, only the link is incorrect.

If you have a hint where and how to correct, cause I didn´t find a way how to do it (so far).

The jQuery stuff is not my sandpit.

Sadly, with out more info, it will be tricky to explain how to fix the plugin/template that is causing these issue. If you would like us to fix it for you (for a crazy reasonable fee), check out the Premium Support pack.

If you want to figure it out on your own, maybe try turning off and on plugins until you find the one that is causing the error. If that does not work, try switching to the twenty-ten WordPress theme, to rule our issues with your current theme.

    Right!

Thanks for the hints. I am on the track already.

You were great and your collaps-o-matic is too.

    Case closed & bye!

    oooops, sorry! Not closed!

I found the mistake, fixed it and the

    inspect element > console
is clear: no log-entries any more.

    BUT:
There are still missing collaps-arrows while others are visible. I mostly use the simple version expand ... /expand. So I can´t see a formatting problem.

    Any other "leaks" possible?

I removed the plugin and pulled it anew but Chrome & Safari are still eating the arrow and hiding the content.

Thanks if help is possible ...
