[Plugin: JQuery Accordion Menu Widget] Child Theme

The plugin works well within my primary theme, but exhibits strange behavior (all menu items expanded when the site opens, for example) when used within the child theme. Is this a known issue? Any idea how I might solve it? I know that some code gets written to the footer… could my problem be somehow related to a difficulty writing code *from* a child theme *to* the footer of a parent theme?
