Trying to use this plugin to convert an existing Mambo site to WP but on a local installation. Both run on the same local server.

I get the message "Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in \wp-includes\formatting.php on line 2822"

It does find categories and users, it stops when trying to convert content.

i am having this same issue.

i noticed that it occurs when it is trying to move a large amount of posts.

i tried specifying categories, and it worked without a hitch.

when i selected a category with thousands of posts, i got this error. the migrator just stops. the browser stops pending. it just stops on the page where it says something like this:

Processing Category: Latest News ===> found 3213 posts....

any ideas on getting around this? i have large sites with tons of articles and i would love to get them moved over to wordpress. your program has gotten me the closest.

so, as i said, it works on categories that have hundreds of posts, but not categories that have thousands. i get the error mentioned above.

also, if i did want to migrate on a category basis, i have to re-import the users every time in order for the authors to be attributed to the articles they've written.

the option to associate the authors with their content should be separate from the option to import all of the users. i have over 10 thousand users and it's quite vexing to have to let it process them every time, even though it does skip them since they already exist.

also, in joomla authors can have aliases. you think of adding any kind of support for that?

i know this all takes a good bit of work. if you can help me, i am willing to pay to get this thing working for bigger migrations.
