   You need to make the insertion of Facebook Open Graph og:description Tag an option.

   I already have a plugin that inserts all the Open Graph Tags (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wonderm00ns-simple-facebook-open-graph-tags/) and the og:description is being override by JetPack against my will.

   After a few hours of hacking this morning I found a fix. The explanation is a bit long, check out: How to fix Jetpack's broken og:description.

   I've also hacked the code to achieve this, more or less the same way you did. That's not a solution because of updates.

   My intention when creating this post was for the Jetpack developers to fix the issue permanently.
