I have, after some deliberation, decided that I really do not want to allow e-mail subscriptions for my blog, and do not wish to send out further mails when new posts are made.

Now, I have disabled “Subscriptions” in Jetpack, but a few questions:

Does turning off subscriptions in the Jetpack settings mean Jetpack stops sending e-mail to subscribers? If not, how can I purge the entire subscriber list? (Short of disabling Jetpack altogether, which I would really like to keep for other reasons

Yes, disabling the Subscriptions module will stop Jetpack from sending further emails. No further action is needed.

That’s could question. Does switching it back on again retain the old subscribers?

The reason I ask is that there are occasions when I want to publish a test page, for example, but don’t want to send an email to all subscribers.

I would like to know this same question. What is the best way to not have an email sent to subscribers only for a particular post you are publishing?

I cannot find any way to “disable” the “Subscriptions” component of Jetpack. Was this ability deprecated?
Or are you referring to simply unchecking the “Follow Blog” box on the Discussions settings page? Will that effectively disable emailing new posts?
