I just got my new blog up and running, but I can't figure out how to install new plugins, I don't understand how to put things in the directory. The blog I have came preloaded with the Installer Plugin, and I've read the faq provided but all it tells me is that it has a button when it is installed that says " Install new Plugin" but it's not there . . . Please help me out, thanks!

Posted 4 years ago #You have to FTP the entire folder of the plugin to the following folder inside wordpress...an example:
/plugin_name/
copy to /wp-contents/plugins/
the same goes for themes, just upload them to
/wp-contents/themes/
and widgets typically go to
/wp-contents/plugins/widgets/
Once it is uploaded, go log into your wp-admin panel, and click "Plugins". You should see a list of the newly uploaded plugins. On the right, if you hover over the word "Activate" it will turn colors and you can click on the link. The page will refresh and it will be activated for the site.
Same goes for themes on the Presentation page.
