   Is it possible to import content that is in several different tags? The content is all in a span tag but has several different classes? Also will it only import the first instance of the tag?

   No, the tags must be standardized before the importer will work. Your best bet in this case is to do some search-and-replace work on your files (using a backup copy if you need to preserve the originals) before running the importer.
