   any chance to add other microformats to the plugin not just hrecipes so the plugin could be used for general reviews?

   Try hReview as well.

   I could probably factor out quite a bit of common code... at the expense of making things quite a bit more abstract.

   There aren't that many microformats yet, but either hRecipe or hReview could be easily modified to provide semantic markup similar to formal microformats.
