   Hello,

   I have been using the "Highlight Search Terms" plugin for a few months now and I just notices a weird glitch. When I search the site through google and follow the link to the site home page from the google query the word "on" is highlighted through out the entire home page. It appears the the word "on" in the google search "right on crime" (the name of the website) is being picked up and highlighted for some reason.

   This does not occur if you go straight to the site by typing in the url in the url field, only when I have entered a search query through a search engine...

   I have deactivated the plugin to eliminate any new visitors seeing this issue but I can reactivate it if you need to see what I am talking about.

   Can anyone help?

   Hi, sorry about the delay. This one got lost in the mail-storm...

   The behaviour you describe is not a glitch, it is supposed to happen. The plugin is designed to detect the search query that was done on the redirecting search engine just as it is on a internal search via the WP search form.

   Each of the search terms are then treated equally and (when found in the content) wrapped in span tags to prepare for highlighting. In the case of a frequently used word like "on" being one of the search terms, you might notice that one being highlighted all over the place.

   The plugin has been designed to be as lightweight and simple as possible without any extra settings or options so there is no possibility to make it ignore certain terms or disable the 'search engine redirect query detection' completely.

   If you would like that kind of functionality in a custom version, I can code it for you. Just let me know :)
