Greg, first of all, thanks for making such an easy-to-use plug-in. Very useful for people such as myself who are new to SEO and WordPress in general. I feel I understand most of what’s going on but there is one thing that I can’t get to work.

If you look at my homepage – http://www.danielshannon.co.uk/blog – you’ll see that I list the blog posts with their titles. What I want is for the titles of said posts to be the secondary title. I change the code in my main index template file (inserting the code you specify to display secondary titles in the h2 tags) but for some reason it then displays the blog name (i.e. Dan Shannon) as the post title on my home page. This applies to all my posts on the home page, so they all say ‘Dan Shannon’. So instead of the posts secondary title, it’s displaying my blog name, and I’m not sure why?

    Perhaps you have an idea.

    Thanks.

    Hi danshannon,

Please see the instructions for the plugin, which include this note:

Each of these template tags (i.e., function calls) can be used within theme files for single posts, pages, archives, etc. While they can appear either within the loop or outside the loop on individual posts and pages, they should be used only outside the loop on other types of pages. (Using them within the loop won’t actually do any harm, but the plugin is designed to deliver output based upon what type of page is being viewed, rather than on the current state of the WordPress loop. This means, for example, that if you were to call for secondary titles of a sequence of posts using the WordPress loop, you would only get the secondary title for the page itself, repeated over and over, which is almost certainly not what you would have intended.)

    All the best,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,

I’m having the same problem – your reply above makes sense, can you think of a way of doing it though? I am using the minimatica theme that has the last four posts in a slider and I’d also like the seocndary title to show up rather than the return from the_title()

I included it in a file called loop_slider because that’s the only place I can see that has a reference to building the slider

    Any ideas would be great

    Thanks

    Mark
