    Is it possible to style the placeholder text?

    I'm trying to use:
    :-webkit-input-placeholder { font-size: 1em: margin-left:10px}

    but it has not effect... I'm assuming because the placeholder is actually being added by JS after the CSS but I haven't looked...

    Just trying to confirm if this method can't be styled or if I'm doing something wrong.

    I got it!

    ::-webkit-input-placeholder {
       color: red;
    }
    :-moz-placeholder {
       color: red;
    }
    :-ms-input-placeholder {
       color: red;
    }

    Ack! What a mess... Why is that sometimes a pseudo-element and sometimes a pseudo-class... damn the browsers!

    Thanks!
