    Hello,

    Fantastic little patch you've created.

It helped me finish a front-end submission form between gravity forms and events calendar pro.

    Here are a couple suggestions:

    1. Use of other form objects such as checkboxes (for multiple selection) and single-line text fields (values separated by comma?)
    2. Use of multiple drop-downs for the same taxonomy - such as "Select First Category and Select Second Category." Perhaps the values can be added to the single array? (or is it a table relationship?)
    3. Hierarchy within the drop-down - I've notice my hierarchy was removed and the terms were reorganized alphabetically
    4. The ability to selectively hide certain categories (as can be seen in the "Category" form object in GF.

I'll be debugging the next few days so I'll try and provide more feedback.

    Hi Anthony

Thanks for the feedback and I really love some of your suggestions :)

I am planning to release a new version soon that is compatible with GF 1.5, using some improvements suggested by Rocket Genius themselves, so I will see what I can put together.

    Cheers
    Brad

All of adizpezio's ideas are great. Specifically, I'd love to see #1 and #4 implemented.

    Hi,

Would it be possible to add a "single line text" field for the custom taxonomies? I want users to be able to add new taxonomies. At the moment we can only use Drop Downs, Multiple Choice or Checkboxes but they are not practical if you have hundreds or even thousands to choose from.

    Thanks,

    Alan

    Hi,
Great patch. I would love to see:

    • the hierarchy preserved when using checkboxes
    • an option to automatically select "ancestor" terms when a child term is selected
    • option to only display top-level terms

    Cheers

Love the plugin and have just started using it on my forms. From the Gravity forums it has been suggested that your plugin could be used to create pages instead of posts but can find no information on how to do this, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

    Hi clockworkorange,

To create pages with gravity form + custom post types, do the following:

    1) include a new post title field in your form
    2) expand the field's properties
    3) click the advanced tab
    4) tick the 'save as custom post type' checkbox
    5) select 'page' from the dropdown that appears

    and you're done :)

I just discovered this little gem the other day... it is awesome!

I would really like to see the ability for a user to edit content that they contributed. As such, there would need to be a check box where only logged in users would be able to contribute content.

I think this could be used to replace many of the directory and classifieds plugins out there if this functionality were incorporated.

    Hi

I use a form with 5 pages. On three pages I show a drop down populated with the same custom taxonomy (e.g. on page 1: drop down for custom taxonomy (therapy) selection 1, on page 2: drop down for custom taxonomy (therapy) selection 2, ...) the form saves directly into a custom post type entry (I'm also using the Custom Post Type AddOn 2.0).

When I check the resulting entry only the last dropdown selection in the form is saved in the entry. I would expext that all dorpdown selections would be saved into the entry.

Any ideas, how to do this or is it a bug?

    Regards

    Richard

    Hi,
I also would like to add a "single line text" field for the custom taxonomies. I want users to be able to add new taxonomies.

Do you have any plans to release a new version soon?

@bradvin it can't post tags to post type.

No pressure but I was wondering if you have an ETA for the next version. The text box will save me a lot of time.

Hello there, will the next release allow a Drop Down for a Custom Field to be populated with a taxonomy?

version 3 is here! It includes the ability to link a single line text field to a taxonomy. The user can then enter a comma seperated list of terms.

or.... there is an enhanced UI option, where the control is transformed into a "tag input" control. Screenshot

Thanks bradvin. Implemented and tested. I do have some issues on the update though. The first thing I noticed was the overlapping of the boxes.

    Overlapping image

The second was when I tried to edit a second field the page froze and I had to reload the page. I was able to edit all the settings I needed to though by reloading the page.

Also the enhanced UI doesn't seem to be working for me but I guess this is a conflict with another plugin. I haven't tested it yet but I might do that now. I'll post my result here.

I checked deactivated the plugins except gravity forms, Gravity Forms + Custom Post Types and Simple Taxonomies but the enhanced UI wasn't working.

To be clear, I am not complaining. The plugin works well enough for my purposes and I am very happy about that. Of course the advanced UI would be a bonus.

And I am using Gravity Forms 1.6

    thanks for the feedback deadhippo,

just on the overlapping issue. I do not think that is caused by my plugin. Try deactivating it and see if you get the same result please. (and let me know)

regarding the enhanced UI - it tries to include jquery and jquery UI into the page, so the conflict could be with that somehow. Do you have a URL I can test out and see by any chance?

    thanks again :)

The overlapping issue disappeared. I had forgotten that Gravity Forms had also updated recently because I had no need to do anything in the back-end. It makes sense that it wouldn't be your plugin in anyway. Sorry.

    Here is the form:

    http://www.theshirtlist.com/submit-t-shirts/

The store name, Tags and Designer have the advanced UI switched on.

I tried deactivating all the other plugins, clearing the cache and cookies again but it is still not working. I tried Chrome, IE and Firefox (all up to date versions).

Thanks for getting back to me.

    Suggestion, if viable;

Options (somewhere) to override the default admin UI add/edit forms for custom post types with a GForm; the GForm will then generate that CPT.

Not sure if this is a good idea, but ihmo then it would be a lot quicker to make the admin section tailored to the customer editor's needs..

    Hi there,
what a great plugin you have created! One suggestion:
Allow the option to populate a dropdown by usernames/authors. Ideally it would have the option to choose the roles that should be included (i.e a checkbox for each role).

If it is something you do not want to include then maybe you could point me in the right direction and I will try to implement it myself. Though I am not a great coder really....
