I’m having the same problem.
I want to remove certain categories from the list but it just repopulates.
This happens with any of the fields you can link to custom taxonomies; Radio and Drop Down.
The changes arn’t being saved at all because you can’t save renamed categories either.
Help…..
I am also really interested in this — has anyone figured this out?
Any solution to this yet? Driving me nuts!
Hi Jon,
I also got your email, so I think I can try to explain what it does here for everyone to read.
It will always load all of the taxonomies, no matter how many you remove from the field when editing the form. The reason is simple : it must not be a static list, but rather, it must be “linked” to the taxonomy, so when you add a new taxonomy term, you do not need to remember to update the form.
Does this make sense?
I think the easiest work around would be to add an exclude textbox where you can enter a comma separated list of id’s to not include in the field. Would that help?
It makes perfect sense.
I also think an exclude text box would be awesome!
Thanks Brad. That sounds good but how do I add an exclude box? Does that require php coding or can it be done via gravity forms?
Also I have several conditional dropdowns, each one needs to be populated by this custom taxonomy’s sub categories (sub cat 1 goes in to dropdown 1, sub cat 2 goes in to dropdown 2 etc). So excluding might cause issues there?
Hey guys, any updates about the exclude box? Thx all for your help!
hey guys,
I have made this change but I have yet had the time to test it properly. If you would like to help me test it, then please let me know and I will upload a zip of it to my site.
Hi bradvin, I’ll be glad to test it! The website I’m developing isn’t online yet. Still working on localhost.
ok perfect – download from here : http://themergency.com/gravity-forms-custom-post-types-3-1-beta/
When you check the populate with taxonomy checkbox, a new textbox appears where you can enter the id’s of the terms you want to exclude
let me know if you have any issues
thanks for helping me out 🙂
@bradvin:
Any chance you can add this functionality for dropdowns populated with Custom Post Types as well?
hey Drew,
Good idea. I will add this too 🙂
guys, please could you test the beta version here :
http://themergency.com/gravity-forms-custom-post-types-v4-beta-testers-wanted/
I have included exclude boxes for both taxonomies and posts
thanks
