   When I submit the sitemap in my webmasters tools, I get a 'page not found 404' error.

   How do I fix this?

   I am having exactly the same problem and it's driving me crazy. The plugin is reporting no problems generating the sitemap but when I submit the url in Google webmaster tools it I get the 404 error.

   Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin - Google still giving 404 error and when I type the sitemap url into my browser it's just taking me to my homepage.

   I am fairly new to wordpress and desperately needing help - any suggestions would be most welcome!!

   I managed to fix this eventually after a lot of trial and error. I had to go into the file manager in my hosting account and delete the existing sitemap files - then I tried reinstalling the app again and it worked!

   Don't know if the same will work for you but worth a shot.

   could not found sitmap.xml on domain root directory

   i think it"s not google sitemap generator problem

   very hard fix the error i install different xml generator plugin not working finally delete my data and restore it's working fine

   skip beta version use previews version (XML Sitemap Generator 3.2.6)
